1.      Alkaloids (Methyl xanthenes):

a.     Caffeine
b.      Theobromine & Theophylline
2.     Tannins
Key element (microscopically examination):
1.     Anomocytic stomata.
2.     Cluster calcium oxalate.
3.     Branching sclereid.
Uses:
1.     CNS stimulant.
2.     Mild diuretic
3.     Weak smooth muscle relaxant.
4.     Anti diarrheic & astringent.
5.     Anti-cancer &anti-oxidant.
Test for identified:
Murexide test:                               
Aqueous decoction (10%)  residue +1ml conc HCl
   residue +vapors of NH3 purple color   Disappearance of color.


         
Report in the lab.
